Rock Song Sequels

Somehow this is the trend du jour. Sometime Comixpedia contributor Wednesday White adds her own rock song sequels to the list started by McSweeney. It Seems That Rock'n'Roll Makes A Poor Basis For Building Metropolitan Areas is probably my favorite.

Here's the list of Ms. White's contributions to this budding genre.

To Hilarity and Beyond: an interview with Melonpool's Steve Troop

Department: Interviews

Steve Troop has been zipping across the webcomic cosmos since 1996, making a name for himself online and across the convention circuit with a unique panache and sincere friendliness all his own. Creator of the hilariously funny, 'sci-fi but not quite sci-fi' humor strip Melonpool, Troop is a Genuine Nice GuyTM in addition to being a highly talented cartoonist who dabbles in both animation and puppetry, among other interests. While he considers himself still pretty low-key in the webcomic popularity circles, he is one of those rare cartoonists who has managed to sell his work in print with moderate to decent success.

Prior to heading out to this year's San Diego ComicCon (where he will be sharing a booth with Futurama star voice Billy West, among others!), Troop took the time to sit back and talk with Comixpedia about his work, his puppets, his unique convention booths and marketing tactics, as well as why the comic ended at the end of June... or has it???

REview: Dicebox by Jen Manley Lee

Issue: July 2004 Issue

Dicebox isn't your older brother's science fiction comic. No muscular heroes toting huge laser cannons, piloting light-speed-capable spaceships, rescuing buxom and scantily clad females, thwarting evil empires, and, in general, saving the universe.

When Punchlines Go Bad

Webcomics are no longer a laughing matter.

I think that’s because few people can tell a joke anymore.

Connecticon Was This Past Weekend: How Did it Go?

This weekend was the Connecticon at the University of Hartford. There was a heavy webcomic creator presence including Pete Abrams, Rob Balder and a good chunk of the Dumbrella gang.

Anyhow just found this post from tehcheat about the "uber webcomic panel" with a veritable who's who of the lil' old webcomic world.

Tell me why this wont work

Not that I think the way you're doing it now is junk...

Have you guys considered going more "Magazine"-ey? Instead of having four or five new articles a week, why not have it all come out in one block-buster issue once a month?

Say the cover links to the contents page, where all of your editorials, reviews, interviews, and thesis papers on webcomics can read in one lengthy, tasty meal.

As for the developing news, you could have a blog sepcifically for that purpose.... since that seems to be how it's going now, anyway.

Whadda yah think?

Hiya!

Hello ComixPediites....comixpediatrics?...comixpedophiles?....urk!.. nix that last one

Hi! I thought I'd finally post somethin in this forum, I've been lurkin in here for a few weeks now. I'm putting together a comic right now, It's scheduled to be up this coming October.... the 11th I think.. I gotta check my calendar... anyway. I thought I'd introduce myself, buy a couplah rounds for everyone over 19(it's legal where I'm from anyway) and maybe worm my way into your collective hearts, and thus get a whole lotta good press and maximum linkage on my opening day!

....

or maybe just find a nice forum to jaw about webcomic makin

I'll just give a quickee artistic history and then I'll shut up... maybe

I'm an animator based out of Eastern Canada, I've illustrated 2 webcomics before now, one died due to my computer crashing and I lost everything, I whined bitched complained then quit(I was 17 what do you expect :D), I tried again in 2002 but school took too much of my free time(HA! I was lazy dammit)... maybe one or two of you saw it. "24 1/2 Water Street" on Keenspace, it was doing pretty good too for a youngin'... Anywho, here I am again, remaking the old comic, I'd post some of my stuff but I don't have any place to host anything at the moment.. I'm still workin out the whole "pay out the ass for webspace" issue.

If anyone wants to see anything feel free to email me(

) or hit me up on MSN Messenger (twenty_four_the_comic@hotmail.com).

So... was that enough yammering on for ya?
