BuzzComix Server Switch Snafu

In a server switch gone awry, buzzComix has been down for several days now. Luckily, a backup of the entire site, including the famous toplist and their forums, has been found and has been restored to the way it was on July 31st. The buzzComix website currently points to a placeholder file because DNS is still propogating, and should be complete in another 24 hours, according to mneonix08's news post at Drunk Duck.

How to be creative from the doodles on business cards guy

how to be creative is a series of blog posts from the guy who has a niche of doodling on business cards. Interesting thoughts although a little obvious at times.

WebComic Forums To Shutdown

After two years of offering webcomic artists a home for their forums, founder Chris Cantrell reported to Comixpedia that WCF is closing its doors due to a lack of growth and interest in the community. The current forum posts will most likely remain online through the end of August, at which time the entire database will be deleted.

Cantrell stated that he and the staff of WCF wished to thank the artists and writers who have supported this project and helped it get off the ground.

Strip Fight Site Hosts Weekly Webcomic Brawls

Strip Fight is modeled after Song Fight. Creators submit a cartoon and visitors can vote on the comics with the highest rated comic "winning".

I'm kind of curious as to whether participants have thought this a useful way to publicize their work and if anyone has any thoughts to share on this site or others if a similar ilk like Is My Comic Hot or Not.

Would something like this be a useful thing for Comixpedia to try out or does it just whip up artificial "competition" without benefitting anyone?

PvP Guest Week Back On!

From Phalanx comes the news regarding PVP guest week:

Following the recent controversy where Scott Kurtz offered free syndication of PvP to the newspapers, Scott announced on his website that he was cutting short the currently-running guest-strip week. This move was to counter the confusion caused by new readers checking out the PvP site and mistaking the guest strips for 'The Real PvP'.

The decision to cut short Guest Week 2004, however, resulted in disappointment from the various artists who had already submitted their work and were patiently waiting to see it on PvP. A few hours and upset letters later, Scott followed up with another announcement, this time stating that Guest Week 2004 would indeed, continue as planned. Normal episodes of PvP will be resuming on Saturday.

Amongst the list of people who joined in PvP Guest Week are several well-known comic creators, including Count Your Sheep's Adrian Ramos and Fantastic Four artist Mike Wieringo.
