November Issue's a Mystery

Our next issue features a great cover from Tim Broderick the creator of Odd Jobs which has three complete storylines at Modern Tales and a new one coming next year, titled "Children of the Revolution." So good I couldn't help post it a little early.

And a big thanks to Jamie Robertson from Clan Of the Cats for the cover from our October issue. Hope everyone is having a happy halloween tonight!

Happy Holiday, Halloweens and Halloweenettes

Anyone doing the characters in halloween costume bit particularly well this year? I spotted Diesel Sweeties and Theater Hopper this morning making with the masked funny.

In "teh drama" department: TCJ members attempt to beat Ted Rall senseless with words. Oh, teh drama... (I only post this to point out that teh drama is hardly limited to webcomics)

In the nice publicity department: BoingBOING links to the new book collection of Toothpaste for Dinner webcomics.

In the readers can be Mary Sue too department: User Friendly today gives a reader who won a charity auction his "appearance" in a UF strip.

In the "wha?" department: I still often refer to Strunk & White's "The Elements of Style" - it is a most useful guide for grammar. But is the world is ready for Strunk & White - the Musical?

In the not exactly webcomics but still kewl department: Stuck trying to come up with a cheap punchline for your next webcomic? Try the The Euphemism Generator.

And last but not least, check out a Pitchfork magazine interview with Jeph Jacques of Questionable Content. (Speaking of QC in today's strip Ellen is wearing a "SMIF College" t-shirt. That just strikes me as vaguely... dirty. But I have no idea why. Unless of course there really is a SMIF College out there in which case nevermind.)

Xaviar Xerexes and Kelly J. Cooper on Digital Strips

E-i-C Kelly J. Cooper and myself, Xaviar Xerexes were interviewed by Daku and Zampzon on Digital Strips tonight - I think it's supposed to be posted tomorrow.

Kelly comes off as the intelligent, opinionated person she is. I, on the other hand, sound like an overly-verbose monkey. We talked about Comixpedia, webcomics, business and art in webcomics, webcomics, controversies on Comixpedia, webcomics, Eric and Wednesday, and webcomics, not necessarily in that order.

Rick Smith and Tania Menesse are posting Shuck the Sulfurstar online every day. Another example of a creator moving into webcomics with an eye on pumping up sales of existing and new books.

This weekend (starting today) is AutumnCon a new Sci-Fi festival taking place in Salt Lake City, UT.

Howard Tayler wrote that he'll be there tomorrow with some original artwork for sale. Two panels also look webcomic-ish: "Intro to Webcomics", and "So you wanna be a webcartoonist".
