KeenSpot Newsbox Controversy Sparks Policy Clarification

An update to this story: it appears to be that in the case of the recent Friendly Hostility newsbox, Keenspot did not follow its internal policy to provide newsbox images to all of its artists to review beforehand. Keenspot policy is to require the provision of a "G" rated image as an alternative for individual artists to use if any artists object to the originally submitted newsbox image. Original post follows after the break.

Warren Ellis Requests Information From Comic Creators

Warren Ellis, creator of Transmetropolitan, has in a post on his email list Bad Signal requested information from comic creators. Webcomics included.
This one is for people who make comics. I have half a scheme in my head, which may come to nothing, but I want a measurement:

If you make comics -- professional, indie, self-pub, webcomics, mini-comics -- if you make comics, drop me an email at warrene@aol.com and tell me your name and what you do.

Leisure Town Back

Tristan Farnon, the artist behind Leisure Town pulled his webcomic from the web in 2003. He has literally just put the website back "on the air." No word on the site as to whether Farnon will create new webcomics or to explain the absence or the return of the site.

Farnon drew the cover of the third issue of Comixpedia.

PC Weenies

hi ho, everyone:

After a long absense on Comixpedia, I've finally come back.

I draw a 3-times a week panel tech cartoon called "The PC Weenies", a sample of which is below. I've been working on the strip since October 1998 - it's been a genuine labor of love that's occassionally paid me well.

I've been mostly an outsider in the rest of the webcomic scene, lurking about and checking out what other cartoonists are up to. Thanks to Comixpedia (and BuzzComix) I've found a lot of great new comics to add to my bookmarks list. Hoping to make some new friends and comrades and help contribute to the webcomic scene.

taking a stab at an upcoming cover...

Been a LONG time since I've been on the forums... so a quick 'hi ho' to all the regulars. I promise to check in more often. Is there a queue or a specific protocol on how to ask to design an upcoming cover for Comixpedia's next issue?

Thanks! -Krishna

Call to Join Hyena Comics

Perhaps in an effort to fill the gap left by the sudden end of Spells & Whistles, the Hyena Comics group "has opened up it's doors for a limited time to submissions by comic artists interested in joining the group."

More info available here.

Art Tool for Webcomics

Anyone use Art Rage from Ambient Design? It's a free program that is designed to provide a realistic and fun simulation of using paint on a canvas, along with pens, pencils, crayons, and other tools.

Also interesting is Art Pad from Art.com which lets you draw pictures in your browser. Unfortunately, Art.com claims that anything you make with their little toy is their property.

Markus muller looking for a hand in Flash

Infinite Canvas is an application to create infinite canvas webcomics developed by Markus Müller. Recently on his blog Müller issued a question that someone might be able to help him with:
I'm currently working on a Flash Viewer, but unfortunately I ran into several performance issues. The animations are very choppy and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. So if you are an ActionScript expert and are willing to help me improve my code, PLEASE contact me. Thank you!

The next version of the Infinite Canvas application is supposed to support export in Flash - hopefully someone can hook Müller up with the right expertise.
