Site Stuff Roundup

New advertiser: the webcomic: girl/robot. Check it out!

Also thought I'd mention that despite the magazine hiatus for the summer there were some new interviews you might have missed in all the guest blogging: David Wright (Todd and Penguin), Chris Shadoian (Popcorn Picnic), and Fred Grisolm (Hate Song).

And I added a bunch of buttons to posts that let's you recommend Comixpedia stories to digg and other social/Web 2.0 sites. Basically if you want to draw the web-o-sphere's attention to a Comixpedia post click 'em and follow the instructions at the other site. Digg.com for example puts stories with the most user votes (called "diggs") on its front page.

Finally, I'm moving the toplist (comixpedia.net) to a new server so tomorrow or the day after there'll be a little dns hiccup which will probably mess up the stats a bit this week. I apologize but I couldn't figure out how to avoid it. In any event, the new server is managed so it should be as good or better performance then the current one.

The Gigcast: Year One

Hey Folks,

I don’t know if any of you have been counting, but this weeks Gigcast is #50. Meaning that in 2 weeks we are at the one year mark.

One year.

Actually this week, while numbered 50 is actually the 52nd Gigcast (not counting The Gigcast Drive-bys) and the 52nd week, BUT the first Gigcast was released on Aug 20 2005, so… Fuzzy math hurts my head. That blows me away. Really. Who would have thought it?

100 Episodes of the Dada Detective

Just a short plug for The Dada Detective which hit it's 100 episode this week. It's an actual mystery story, but it's also chock full of puns, gags and... ducks. Plus a talking mime, a dead Peter Lorre and an angry eskimo. Definitely worth checking out!

Comics War- Whose Side Are You On?

So in the comments section of my last post, an interesting point was raised. Some web cartoonists can take an “us vs. them” mentality towards mainstream comics, proclaiming we are the future and that the comics industry as it stands right now is due for a major change. I find myself in this very camp, which is why the point came up. That got me thinking.

I’m not asking if the above is true or not, we can all argue that until our typing fingers are sore and bleeding and nothing will change today, what I’m asking is if this question is getting us anywhere?

"This Sickness" at AdultWebcomics.com

Today AdultWebcomics.com announced the launch of its second ongoing webcomics series, “This Sickness” by John Roberson.

http://www.adultwebcomics.com/comics/roberson.php

“Remain naked,” begins Roberson’s AdultWebcomics.com feature. “Come to our bedroom right now. Dont’ ask a single question. Don’t say a single word.” The expressive sequence of cartoon images that follows is about as hardcore as a comic can get — but is also as fine as a comic can get — real cartooning by a real cartoonist. “It’ll get you going on all kinds of levels,” said the site’s editor, Joe Botts.
