Panels & Pictures: Constraint

In this month's Panels & Pictures, Derik A Badman discusses the idea of constraint in creative work and a number of comics examples in print and around the web.

Catching Up With Stephen Notley

There's an incredible wealth of articles in the ComixTalk archives: features and columns on craft, theory and business, insightful reviews and interviews with some of the most interesting folks in webcomics. We'll be taking a regular look back at past issues and catching up with creators we've previously covered.

Stephen Notley is the creator of Bob the Angry Flower which I'm sure is still the angriest angiosperm character in comics today. I caught up with Notley via email last month.

Catching Up With Brad Hawkins

There's an incredible wealth of articles in the ComixTalk archives: features and columns on craft, theory and business, insightful reviews and interviews with some of the most interesting folks in webcomics. We'll be taking a regular look back at past issues and catching up with creators we've previously covered.

Brad Hawkins is the creator of the progressively-minded, primate-populated webcomic, Monkey Law and the technical genuis behind stripshow the webcomic-focused plug-in for WordPress.  I caught up with him via email last month.

LATEST TRENDS IN ART (411)

[Panelists: Onezumi Hartstein (mod), Ray Ridenour, J. Andrew World, L. W. (Lynn) Perkins]

What are artists painting these days? What are editors looking for when they want a book cover, role playing cards, SF/Fantasy games, etc. Are their any motifs that never go out of style, or is the only constant in the art world that there is constant change in art lovers and editors tastes

Ice update, Zombies Calling is out Nov 14th & a signing on the 24th

Hey, and we have an Ice update. The first weekly update in, oh....two years? So enjoy! Three new pages to the story, although the little orange arrow indicates four. I just changed the dialogue a bit on the previous page (167) to make it clearer what Hunter was intending to do to Cirr. I don't really think this update needs comments... again, when this scene gets finished, I'll try and do a general spiel about my thoughts. If such a thing interests y'all.

Moving? Again?

Well, since it seems like an almost annual event, The Flowfield Unity is moving again.

It can now be found at www.theflowfieldunity.com

It'd be really good to see you there,

And So It Begins

Well, this is my first blog post on Comixtalk, and I would like to make a good first impression.  Let me start by saying I've been drawing comics for about 5 years off and on with my strip, Love and Marriage.  To be honest, I find it hard to get the "Type A" energy up to draw everyday, and I often find my well runs dry at the most inopportune time.

Webcomic page updating

I am relatively new to this board, so I figured I would like to my webcomic, Love and Marriage.  If someone could please take a look and provide me with some feedback, I would appreciate it!

Thanks,

John
