I'm a little depressed this week, because I had to divert much of my time away from making webcomics to beginning new web design contract jobs, which makes up the majority of my income.

A long shot, but what the heck. I'm organizing a co-ed soccer team that will play in the NVASA (http://www.nvasa.org/) league this spring. Seriously - I need the exercise!

I think most of the games are in Fairfax, VA county and they're all night games (not sure which nights until we get the schedule).

Time for a celebration today as BVC's online graphic novel Shades reaches another milestone! Yes, today's update is the first page of Chapter 5, Without Wings! So, what can you expect?

Well, you've seen our heroine Boo in the kitchen, so this week we thought we'd show you what she's like once she's got a man in her bed and at her mercy. No, really.

Finally, if you haven't done it yet, please don't forget you have just one week left to nominate Shades in the "Favourite Web-Based Comic" category of this year's Eagle Awards. In fact, if you vote for us today, we'll be so grateful we'll make sure there's more of the same bedroom action in next week's instalment. Promise!

Now, I don't draw. My comics haven't run a guest strip since 2004. But my comics used to be drawn by a rotating gallery of artists, so I know what I'm talking about. There's a right and a wrong way to do things. I did most things the wrong way the first time around, because I didn't know any better.
