The Southern Cross

We've seen how The Southern Squadron (& the Uncanny A-Men >groan<) react to Moving Home, let's see what happens when they're placed Behind Bars - & i mean that in every sense of the word.

This gem by David De Vries & Gary Chaloner first saw the light of day in Southern Squadron #10 (Australian edition) & #2 of the Aircel mini-series internationally but never in full colour.

This looks pretty smart - a step older than Lunchbox's "all ages" concept is Teenbit -- featuring comics about teenagers. (Comics will be PG-13 and G-rated) As the site says -- these comics are all trying to capture something about the teenage years. With heavy hitters Penny & Aggie, Red String, and other good looking comics like Ugly Girl, Geek Blather, Masters of the Art, Subculture of One, YU+ME: Dream, and The Broken Mirror this looks like a great site to bookmark.

Over the next few weekends I'll be bringing back some of the desktop wallpapers I've done since 2002-ish. Given enough time and good enough ideas, I may even make some new ones.

There was a wallpaper page on the old Comicgenesis ROCR site, but the images linked from there either had become unavailable as a result of the latest server reshuffle in the Modern Tales family of sites (they were hosted on Webcomicsnation's ftp server, which no longer exists) or they're about to become unavailable (the older images are hosted at the old users.bart.nl/~samizdat site, which will probably close down once my bart.nl subscription ends).

Here is a funny story about Cats in a Swedish newspaper, The local. The town of Söderköping are facing a crackdown, after the council issued a ban on free sex and on pooping in the flowerbeds. Environmental and planning officers in the town, 180 kilometres south of Stockholm, have demanded that cat owners place litter trays outdoors.

No, that's not a reference to Serenity (or even Firefly!) It's a reference to the fact that Broken Voice Comics has just revisited the early pages of its flagship title Shades and re-lettered the whole of the Prologue. Well, a flagship title should try to look its best!

Re-lettering the rest of this title is going to be quite a slow process but we think you'll agree it'll be worth it. Just re-read the Prologue and take a look at the difference it's made there already. It's all ... shiny!
