Last week we gave you an advance peek at one of the first completed pages of Issue 2 of our fantasy adventure, The Spires. Well, just this weekend Fabrizio sent me his latest page of inks. It's not coloured or lettered yet but it's one of my favorite scenes from Issue 2, so I just couldn't wait to share it with you!

It's the inked version of Page 8 and you can see it (yes, before anyone else!) in the Previews and workshop area at Broken Voice Comics!

• I'm not sure what this story has to do with comics but it is interesting: book publishers are rethinking the value of audiobooks -- in particular this article is about an author who rushed out the audiobook well in advance of the hardback in order to capitalize on an Oprah Winfrey Show appearance.
  

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 BLOGS

• Eric Millikin has an interesting request: Any good books for a webcomics class?
• Unshelved by Bill Barnes and Gene Ambaum, releases a comic they created about and for the Book Expo America convention as a pdf.
• Derik Badman on non-plot-based narrative in comics.
• Neil Cohn writes about the concept of "coercion" in language (with comics used as examples). Coercion seems to be related to the McCloud concept of "closure" (which McCloud discusses in his book Understanding Comics).

The American Academy of Pediatrics estimates that children in the United States watch about four hours of television every day. They recommend that children under age 2 should not watch any and older children should watch no more than 2 hours a day of quality programming. They said the number of young kids watching TV is much greater than expected.

Today, Madeleine Morello, of "Enter the Four-Eyed Dragon", takes one for the team, face style! This is another full-color pinup representing the women of Progressions X in a specialized erotic fascination each week.

I'm not sure how new this is (the history of the Wikipedia article suggests it's pretty new), but Clickable Culture points to a beta release of IMVU
