Review of The Strangers


I saw the movie The Strangers and found myself rather depressed by the whole affair. Without spoiling the movie, it centers around boyfriend and girlfriend, James Hoyt and Kristin McKay, who are staying at a summer house following a friend's wedding. At 4 a.m., there is a knock at the door. What follows (and the commercials pretty much give this much away) is essentially an hour of three masked strangers tormenting the couple. Liv Tyler's performance was good and Scott Speedman's performance okay.

I am in China (Shanghai) for the last few days, having problem getting my daily digest of Schlock Mercenary, and suddenly I realize: Schlock is being censored!

Besides all the drawing I've been doing lately, I've been working on a few scripts. I've become kind of obsessed with this throwaway character (actually a red herring, if I may ruin the reveal) for one of these, a superhero named The Laughing Samson, and I couldn't resist sketching him up as he appears in my head.
