    I have learned one valuable lesson , in my short time working at a comic book shop and that is that SEX SELLS ,and there is my dilemma, I am ready to start putting nudity in  my comics. , 50% of it is to advance the story and the other 50% is for the sheer sensationalism , look I realize that this maybe be wrong but in a world that has 4 & 5 dollar gas simply because the gas companies can do it ..... I want my share too, I try to rationalize what I'm doing by having folks drop by for the sizzle but staying for the steak.

Rounding up the latest news from the "black capes"... Skrulls: [CBR] It's the comic book event that has everyone from Entertainment Weekly to The Wall Street Journal buzzing and now the years top-selling comic, "Secret Invasion", makes its television debut on ESPN2 tonight! During tonight's telecast of the Bricktown Showdown, the minor league baseball championship, beginning at 8pm EST, an ad for the Skrulls' "Embrace Change" cause will run multiple times. Initial reaction: Cool! And then... Good gosh... I don't even know where ESPN2 is on my TV! Is this really well-targeted marketing?!

I dusted off my old 20″ Cinema Display (far right) and put it back to work. It’s hooked up to my G5 and serves as my DVD player / video server while I’m working.

Another artist visiting my Deviantart page -- who usually uses a computer to color -- asked how I handled hand colors. I thought this answer belonged in the creator blog:

"Hm. Well, the obvious answer is practice. I picked out a close range of cool colors and a cool brown. That way it didn't get too noisy.

I don't think much how I do things any more; over 50 years of practice has dumped all the process into the hands and lizard brain.

I am ecstatic to say that I've just learned my course for teaching a "Visual Linguistics of 'Comics'" course next Spring semester '09 has been approved! This will be the first course of it's kind to cover my own visual language research and related studies in a complete package. I'm beyond excited about it, so... if you're in the Boston area and might want to head over to Tufts for some spring

I just read this story about Marvel Comics launching two new online only titles, an Iron Man story and a Hulk story. Each digital title continues the respective movie plots from this summer. I think that's a really interesting idea, but it costs $10 a month to access Marvel's online offerings. That's a steep price for this sort of thing, isn't it? I'm all for reading comics on the web, do it all the time myself, but $10 a month for just one company's titles seems way out there to me.
