Athena Voltaire will update daily from June 21 through August 16, culminating in a new episode on Tuesday, August 16. The strip will continue its weekly Tuesday update schedule from there.

Set in the 1930's, Athena Voltaire chronicles the globetrotting adventures of its titular heroine. Series co-creator/artist Steve Bryant describes the book as "Indiana Jones starring a James Cameron-style female pilot." Bryant continues "Obviously, that's an oversimplification, but that's the 'high concept' in a nutshell. Mix in liberal doses of Hitler's bizarre occult obsessions, creatures and lots of cliffhangers and you get a good idea of what we're doing."

To celebrate the relaunch on Modern Tales, Athena Voltaire will be updating daily with Rapid-Fire Reruns of Athena Voltaire: The Terror in Tibet and The Wrath from the Tomb through August 16. "We feel that these Rapid-Fire Reruns make a great jumping on point for new readers and an ideal refresher course for those who have been with us since day one," Bryant stated. "Due to some deadline concerns for Chad (who’s coloring the spectacular Territory 51 from Lawdog Studios), we took a poll at our message board. A resounding 75% of our readers stated that they would prefer to see the strip in its completed colored form, rather than posting my b/w pages as we go. Instead of just leaving the latest installment posted until we were back on track, we’ve opted to start over from the beginning."

The comic has generated considerable buzz, garnering positive reviews from industry pros. Tim (Punisher, Hellblazer) Bradstreet describes Athena Voltaire as "rollicking high adventure," while Mark (Xenozoic Tales, Superman: Man Of Steel) Schultz calls it "fun and compelling" with "stylish storytelling and gorgeous rendering."

A critical darling as well, Athena Voltaire has received glowing reviews at Ain’t It Cool News ("Why HASN'T CrossGen picked this title up?") and Comic World News ("It's as good as anything by Top Cow"). Barb Lien-Cooper, Trisha L. Sebastian, Deanna Lytle and Sheena McNeil of Sequential Tart unanimously agree that the strip is exceptional.

Athena Voltaire made its Modern Tales debut on June 2, 2003. The creative team of writer Paul Daly and artists Steve Bryant & Chad Fidler has been in place since day one.
