Every so often I'll stumble upon a comic and I wouldn't know what to make of it...but damn (I would say to myself), that's pretty cool! Lost is one of them. Sysli uses photographs to construct this stream of consciousness style "webcomic" and it turned out quite wonderfully.
DJ Coffman wrote a blog entry today about a writeup Wizard Magazine did on Hero By Night. He also talked a bit about how weird it is to be called an "aspiring creator" even though he worked for years with various talented writers.
I was just told of a cool opportunity to win some original Hero By Night artwork! But it's only for today so anyone interested have to act quick! All you have to do is refer five friends to Hero By Night Diaries, have them comment, then presto!
I was wandering around the DrunkDuck forums when I stumbled upon a post that DJ Coffman wrote. Basically his comic Hero By Night will be debuting this March! If you pre-order it now through New Dimensions Comics, you'll get a free limited edition print. Additionally, if you're one of the first fifty to pre-order, he'll also include a free sketch card!
American Jr is another comic on DrunkDuck and I just found out that the trade paperback is being published by Images Comics! It should be coming out in June and will contain the first 150 strips plus some extra stuff.
In other news, DrunkDuck recently redesigned the control functions and added some new features. Users can now create their own blogs/forums as well as have access to their comic statistics. There should also be a new creators interview coming out soon!
DrunkDuck announced its first annual “Not A Contest” Valentine’s Promotion yesterday! Basically they're looking for the best creative works from DrunkDuck creators and will pick two winners based on two themes: Valentine's and Anti-Valentine's.
I got this private message from Robert Tinnell who does The Chelation Kid (a very awesome webcomic. Everyone should check it out!) and I'm trying to spread the news about a Chelation Kid t-shirt. Basically you can buy it at The National Autism Association and all proceeds go towards funding autism research.
A while back I wrote about the possibility of a DrunkDuck Comic Creators Alley at Wizard World in LA. About 14 people expressed interest in going so Mojo and the others are working on pulling it off at Wizard World this year.
I'm mentioning this again because it's not too late to get a free table and meet up other DrunkDuckers! I'm also mentioning this again because if you're really truly serious about going, you need to send a private message/PQ to Dragonlova as soon as possible. She needs to do a count of everyone who is really serious about going.
Also, a few people have been talking about sharing rooms and such to save cost. So the thread I linked above is worth checking out if you're interested! :)
DrunkDuck updated its news section last night and one of the new features that came out of it are creator interviews. The first interview is of Amelius, creator of Charby the Vampirate, a comic that has consistantly grabbed the top spot of the most read list on DrunkDuck.
I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! :D Hope 2007 goes well for you!
I also want to say that in an attempt to get back into drawing, I opened up a DrunkDuck sketching account called Paper Birds. It's basically like a sketch blog...except it's missing the blog part. University is usually the biggest comic killer and my old comic Random Thoughts was certainly struck dead by second year. Hopefully it won't happen again.
