Writer Wiz Rollins who graced humanity with his minimalist webcomic, BAD SHAPE, is now the new co-writer of Yirmumah.
I've been writing Yirmumah myself for over a year since the original co-writer split in October 2005, and since I've gotten busy with other projects, it's been hard delivering it all on my own. It's always great to collaborate with talented writers, and Wiz feels like he was born to write Yirmumah. See today's Thanksgiving strip, "Dirty Bird".
Joe and Monkey creator Zach Miller told me after I won the Comic Book Challenge contest last summer with Hero by Night, that he was going to have a friend he knew who makes rings, forge me a custom "H" ring. It was the "H" ring I had made out of super sculpey that helped put my pitch over the top I think. (the hero's powers come from the ring)- The new ring arrived today, and Zach Miller may now be listed as one of the coolest and thoughtful webcomic creators out there today. Here are some photos.
D.J. Coffman finished chaper two of his "ORIGIN" storyline for his webcomic Yirmumah. At 61 pages in, the first two chapters have featured, Hoboes, Bikers, Bibles, Witches and much more. Also, cold beer.
Come read what Comics101's Scott Tipton calls "...smart, daring and compelling. Really strong work." and what other critics call "one of the best comics I’ve read or seen in any medium".
Experience and judge for yourself. Start from Chapter One: Dad, or pick up at the beginning of Chapter Two: Mom.
I didn't, but apparently Adventures of Spawn is online here. I'm not to hip on the layout, but it is interesting to see comic book giants slowly coming to webcomics. It looks like this effort is primarily to sell a toy line, but still, it's very interesting...
Makes me wonder if the long time webcomic veterans couldn't better help these established publishers usher their works onto the web in a better manner.
A little tight deadline here, but Platinum Studios and NBC are having a COMIC BOOK CHALLENGE wherein you submit a pitch for your comic along with a sample page. "GRAND PRIZE:The Winner's Idea will be Fully Produced and will debut to the public at one of the major comics conventions of 2007! NBC 7/39 TV will showcase the finalists on the air. "
[Xerexes: I got a press release on this which had a link to a commercial on it. I'll post the full press release as a comment to this post.]
