Donate To Help Young Independant Comic Makers Get Started

Flower Comic Panels

I have developed an after school club that will meet next spring once a week where these students can come and hone their storytelling skills and eventually publish their own books with full color screen printed covers and xeroxed interior pages.

However, there is very little money for this program and some eager artists are unable to pay the $3 dues to cover drawing materials.

Visions of Gehenna

I was so inspired by Warren Craghead's latest little DIY book, I just had to try to make one today on our Fall holiday. The day off actually coincided with Yom Kippur and though I'm not Jewish, I think it affected me on a subconscious level, because it turned out kind of dark.

Can anybody guess the song from which I derived the plot? (Hint: Nearly every line of text in the comic reinterprets or directly quotes lines from the lyrics from this song.)

In the Territory of the Devil- or What Would Flannery Think of the Dark Knight?

Heath Ledger as The Joker

Flannery O'Connor once said of her own writing, "my subject in fiction is the action of grace in territory held largely by the devil."

My Life in Records Milestone- 50 Pages Penciled

My Life in Records

I've had a chance to get caught up a little bit with My Life in Records, and I'm proud to say that I've just finished penciling my 50th page! Its not necessarily the first 50 pages in sequence. In fact one page I drew is the opening page from Chapter 4, but I was so excited about it when I thumb nailed it, that I had to draw the real thing.

Sketchdump- Misunderstood Monsters and My Life in Records Cover Designs

I haven't posted a sketch in while, so I'm dumping out my sketchbook on you all.

This is a little sketch I did a few moths ago as I was developing ideas for a "Misunderstood Monsters" comic.

Scaling Back a Bit

All right- with work as crazy as it always is this time of year, I put up a pretty small update for this month and I'm planning on putting up a four page update next week instead of my usual six page update. I'll probably keep updates at four pages for a while until I get my buffer back up.

Now that the comic is back up and running for a few months, my question is, do you like the monthly updates in one chunk, or would you rather I just post one a week?

Introducing the My Life in Records Mixtape

Fabricari saw my last post about the music that inspired the first chapter of My Life in Records and suggested I try out this little mixtape widget.  So here's a mix with all the music alluded to in the Prologue.
