Creator and entrepreneur Tim Demeter guest blogged at ComixTalk with a series called "It's Business Time" (links to part one, two and three)

The most popular pages at the Comixpedia encyclopedia are Girly, Penny Arcade, Cyanide and Happiness, Melonpool, and PowerPuff Girls Doujinshi.

2006

As Scott Kurtz debuted a new site design for PvP, I wrote asking whether webcomic websites be an artistic extension of the comic, essentially extending the look and feel of the comic, or is that not that important?

2005

Ryan Estrada reaches the 168 hour mark in the Ironbutt comic making event.  In related endurance news, we reported on another entrant dropping out of the Daily Grind contest.

Ali Graham released a print collection of his first webcomic Housd.

2004

Alexander Danner wrote about how to promote your webcomic by not promoting your webcomic.

A group of creators banded together to form Found Hat Press.

2003

Warren Ellis reviewed the very first print collection of David Rees' clip art comic Get Your War On!

The March of the Collectives

A collective, loosely defined, is any sustained grouping of webcomic creators. What they do together varies greatly from group to group. Some are largely a peer group offering each other critical feedback and encouraging support. Others throw in cross-promotion for each others' work. Some build a collective brand with logos, advertising and a central website. Some share business experience and expertise in areas as varied as merchandise, books, conventions, hosting and website creation.

And what did I find from my research? There's a tremendous number of collectives out there (and that I never want to attempt another "survey" article again). And, oh yeah, checking out collectives can be a great way to find excellent new comics.

Help Me Know All of The Webcomic Collective/Groups Out There

Here's a list of the ones I have right now in the Library - if you know of others give me the name and the URL so I can add them. I'm calling them affiliates but the idea is groups of creators who've banded together for artistic and/or business reasons. They should have about 5 or more members (approx.).

Found Hat Press Founded

A small group of of like-minded young cartoonists on the rise have banded together to form Found Hat Press. Hoping to learn from each other while also expanding thier audiences, they plan on eventually venturing into self publishing, amongst other things. Several of the group's members have been crowned champions of Strip Fight.
