Have you been reading the new Sam and Max webcomic by Steve Purcell? It's a nicely done spin-off of the video game.

It has an "interactive" format which is essentially that the speech bubbles and sound effect words pop-up after you roll your mouse icon over each panel. (It also has a "flat" format which is a more traditional comic). That kind of thing usually strikes me as "gimmick" more than innovation but this worked okay. The benefit of this "interactive" format though isn't the supposed "interactivity" - it's the ability to see the artwork unobstructed.
